What is folliculitis?
Folliculitis is the inflammation or infection of hair follicles, typically caused by bacteria, fungi, or physical irritation. It can result in red bumps, itching, or temporary hair shedding.
If left untreated, chronic folliculitis can damage hair follicles and contribute to long-term thinning or scarring alopecia. Triggers may include tight hairstyles, friction, or scalp hygiene issues.
Red light therapy may support recovery from folliculitis by reducing inflammation and stimulating the skin’s natural healing processes, especially when used alongside appropriate medical treatments.
