What is the hair shaft?
The hair shaft is the visible part of the hair that extends above the surface of the skin. It’s composed primarily of keratin and consists of three layers: the cuticle, cortex, and medulla.
Although the shaft itself is non-living, its condition reflects the health of the follicle and scalp. Damage from heat, chemicals, or poor nutrition can lead to breakage and dullness.
Red light therapy does not alter the hair shaft directly, but by improving follicle function and scalp health, it contributes to the production of thicker, stronger, and shinier hair strands over time.
